About WordHive
The free word puzzle helper for Spelling Bee, Wordle, and Scrabble
WordHive is a free, browser-based word tool designed for people who love word puzzles. Whether you play the NYT Spelling Bee every morning, work through Wordle on your lunch break, or play Scrabble with family on weekends, WordHive gives you a fast way to find words when you're stuck — no account, no download, no login required.
The tool searches a dictionary of over 370,000 English words and returns results instantly. Everything runs locally in your browser, which means the letters you type are never sent to any server, and results appear as fast as your device can process them.
What WordHive can do
Word Unscrambler
Find every valid word you can make from any set of letters. Filter by length, require specific letters, and sort alphabetically or by word length.
Spelling Bee Helper
Enter your 7-letter puzzle and required center letter. WordHive finds all valid words and highlights pangrams with a gold star.
Wordle Solver
Enter green, yellow, and gray letter clues from your Wordle game. WordHive narrows down all matching 5-letter words instantly.
Why it was built
WordHive started as a personal tool for daily Spelling Bee players who wanted a cleaner, faster alternative to the scattered word helpers available online. Most existing tools required an account, were covered in intrusive ads before any results loaded, or had confusing interfaces. WordHive was built to be the opposite: immediate, clean, and focused on the task.
Over time, the Wordle solver and general unscrambler were added because word puzzle players tend to play more than one game. Having all three tools in one place, with a consistent interface, makes it easier to move between puzzles without switching between different sites.
How it works
When you visit WordHive, the dictionary loads once in the background from a public CDN. After that initial load, all word searches happen entirely within your browser using JavaScript. No letters you type are ever sent anywhere. There is no backend, no database, and no user accounts.
The word list comes from the open-source dwyl/english-words project, which contains over 370,000 English words compiled from public domain sources. This list is broad by design — it covers far more vocabulary than any single word game uses. Each game (Spelling Bee, Wordle, Scrabble) has its own curated word list, so not every word WordHive returns will be valid in a specific game.
What WordHive does not do
- Collect personal information. WordHive has no registration, no accounts, and no user profiles.
- Track the words you search. Searches happen locally and are never logged.
- Require a subscription or payment. The tool is free with no premium tier.
- Guarantee results are valid in competitive play. Always verify against your game's official word list for tournament use.

WordHive uses Google AdSense to display ads. Advertising helps keep the site free and available to everyone. If you have questions about how ads work on this site, see the Privacy Policy.
